Every day, hundreds of vehicles access the Centro Agro Alimentare Torino (CAAT) under different procedures and authorisations. Managing this complexity means not only coordinating the continuous vehicle flow but also ensuring that each one enters quickly and in compliance with its specific permissions – which, until 2025, were mostly paper-based.
To streamline operations, CAAT partnered with HUB Italia on a digitalisation project covering both access control and credential management. The starting point was a system based on physical badges and manual operations that often required users to visit the hub's administrative offices, compounded by the need to seamlessly manage around 5,500 active contracts and the diverse access rules associated with different user categories.
HUB Italia addressed these needs by combining vehicular access control with Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) technology and a digital accreditation process powered by the Business Account Manager platform. Dual-height peripherals paired with Selea cameras were installed in the lanes, automatically recognising the licence plates of vehicles at entry and exit.
Through the Business Account Manager, companies can directly manage the main activities related to their facility access without having to visit the administrative offices. On the other side, CAAT operators maintain full control over requests: uploaded documentation is received and verified through digital workflows, and once validation is complete, profiles and related access permissions are activated.
HUB Italia’s work required a detailed analysis of the different user categories, documentation, access rules, and company structures involved, with a specific focus on data segregation to ensure each company can only access information related to its own organisation.
Today, CAAT manages all active contracts in a structured and efficient way, reducing manual administrative tasks and gaining new, data-driven insights into access traffic.
For HUB Italia, this project was also a journey of growth and development, contributing to the evolution of solutions that are now capable of supporting increasingly complex scenarios. A double success!
